The Members’ Exhibition Returns

Calling all AVA Members!
The Association for Visual Arts (AVA) is pleased to invite submissions for our upcoming Members’ Exhibition. Showcasing 100 works from our community, this exhibition serves as a dedicated platform for members to promote their work and connect with fellow artists.
We invite all current members to propose one finished artwork via the online application form below. We welcome submissions across all media, including wall-based, digital, sculpture, and installation, provided they adhere to the specified size requirements as outlined below.
Selection Process & Timeline:
Proposals will be reviewed by a selection committee composed of AVA Board Members.
Submission Deadline: 17 May 2026
Notification of Outcome: By the end of June 2026
Exhibition Dates: 25 September – 8 October 2026
Submission Requirements:
Membership: Applicants must be valid, current AVA members with fully paid fees. To join or renew (starting at R150/year, or R75 for students and pensioners), please visit www.ava.co.za/join before applying. For status inquiries, contact admin@ava.co.za.
Eligibility: Artists must be 18 years or older.
Quantity: Strictly one artwork and one submission per member.
Size: Maximum dimensions are 100 cm x 100 cm. Sculpture or installation-based works are limited to 100 cm x 100 cm x 100 cm.
Condition: All work must be finished and ready for installation. Proposals are final and cannot be amended once submitted.
Logistics: Artists are responsible for all costs related to shipping to and from the gallery and framing (optional).
Please note:
The AVA does not provide funding for new commissions, framing or artwork transport. While artworks may be listed for sale, this is not a requirement for inclusion. The final curation is at the discretion of the AVA; artists will not be involved in the installation layout.
The Member’s exhibition will run for two weeks, opening on 25 September 2026 until 8 October 2026. If selected, all artwork must be delivered to the AVA between the 7th and 14th of September and must be collected on the 9th and 10th of October. The final selection of members’ artworks is not guaranteed and is at the discretion of the AVA selection committee.
Being an AVA member places you within a long legacy of artists and art lovers dedicated to South African contemporary art. This exhibition is a direct celebration of that history and our vibrant community. We are incredibly grateful for our members’ continued support in sustaining our mission.
