AVA Membership: In Conversation with Sean O’Toole

Sean O’Toole | Writer, editor and curator

AVA in Conversation | Why our Membership Matters

AVA has a long history and a history can sometimes be a burden for an institution. The AVA isn't, in my mind, burdened by its history. It's actually energized by it.

It's hard as a young artist to find spaces to exhibit. So a place like the AVA, traditionally and historically has offered that… a space that allows particularly young or emerging artists to broker engagement with the public, which is really important.

…The AVA offers the frame, and by frame I mean it's accumulated history. It is one of the few spaces that has a fairly impartial signature.

We're so pleased to share our conversation with the esteemed writer, editor, and curator, Sean O’Toole as he discusses AVA's unique position as a historical association, non-commercial platform, and a home for many.

Support the AVA, support our artists. Become a member today.

This project was created in partnership with Love Yourss, a local content advertising agency. We are incredibly grateful to them for their generous donation, time, and support in bringing it to life.
