AVA Art Writing Workshop

The AVA is excited to announce the launch of an art writing workshop hosted by Keely Shinners, free for all selected participants. The workshop aims to equip applicants with skills to develop their art writing practices as well as insider knowledge about the writer’s role in the art industry more broadly. Sessions will take place on Saturday mornings at the AVA Gallery, 35 Church Street, 10am-1pm. Please note that this workshop is split into two tranches and each participant will only attend one of the two workshops.

Aspiring and early career art writers are encouraged to apply.

Keely Shinners is a writer, editor, and performer based in Cape Town. She has served as the editor of ArtThrob and the Chairperson of the Association for Visual Arts. Her art criticism has appeared in ArtThrob, Africanah, Bubblegum Club, and e-flux. She is also the author of the chapbook The Agonies and Ecstasies of Saint Marguerite and the novel How To Build a Home for the End of the World.
