The Association for Visual Arts (AVA) promotes contemporary visual art production through regular exhibitions, showcasing all media, by established and emerging artists. It aims to promote the discursive and experimental nature of contemporary art, to make important contributions to the ‘open texture’ of South Africa’s art community.
Temporary position: Art Fair Assistant Internship
The Association for Visual Arts (AVA) invites applications for a paid, part-time internship running for the month of February 2026.
Interns will provide essential administrative and operational support to the gallery team, with a specific focus on AVA’s presentation at the 2026 Investec Cape Town Art Fair (ICTAF). This temporary position offers a unique, hands-on opportunity to gain invaluable professional experience in the logistics, sales, and administration required to successfully participate in an international art fair. Key duties include assisting with gallery administration in the lead-up to the fair, working at the AVA’s booth to engage with visitors and collectors, and supporting AVA staff during additional art fair events.
Duration:
· Monday 2 February 2026 – Saturday 28 February 2026
· Hours to be agreed (+- 20 hrs per week, Tuesday - Saturday)
· Must be fully available for the week of the Art Fair (16 – 22 February) including weekend shifts and scheduled evening events.
Paid position:
R3,500 for the month of February
