Making Space

Nando’s Creative Exchange

Fleur de Bondt, Debbie Field, Sello Letswalo and Mduduzi Twala

Main & Mezzanine Gallery: 29.01.26 - 05.03.26

Making Space presents a collective exploration of creative freedom, presence, and the negotiation of physical, emotional, and conceptual territory.

The new Nando’s Creative Exchange brings together four emerging South African artists - Debbie Field, Fleur de Bondt, Mduduzi Twala, and Sello Letswalo - responding to the theme of “space” through each distinctive and personal practice.

Across painting, sculpture, print, and mixed media, the artists examine how space can be claimed, opened, and transformed - reflecting on literal and metaphorical dimensions. This group exhibition explores the multiplicity of “space”: physical, emotional, environmental, and conceptual; balancing large-scale works with intimate pieces, traditional media with experimental materials, narrative with abstraction.

Making Space offers audiences a journey through openness, experimentation, and reflection, highlighting the artists’ courage and curiosity.

Making Space is a celebration of the freedom to create, the generosity of mentorship, and the collaborative spirit that emerges when artists are given the time, space, and holistic support to explore their practices fully.

Building futures in the arts

By pairing artists with experienced mentors and professional exhibition opportunities, Nando’s Creative Exchange bridges the gap between potential and sustainability. The current edition continues the programme’s mission: to create platforms where Southern African art can be seen, celebrated and collected.
