Angela Shaw 

Shaw’s early career was as a photographer for the South China Morning Post in Hong Kong, among other publications in the United States, Hong Kong and South Africa.

From 2000-2007, she worked as a researcher for the International Trend Institute (ITI) in Durban, South Africa, reporting on behavioral and socio-economic trends. In the following years, Shaw worked across multiple creative disciplines and was the Creative Director at the architectural practice, Koop Design from 2006–2010.

In 2009, she co-founded Shaw Sisters, an artisanal design practice working with master craftspeople in KwaZulu-Natal to develop new handmade ranges. By 2014, Shaw Sisters was exporting to 8 international destinations.

She holds a Bachelor of Arts from UKZN, an Honours in Curatorship from UCT and a Master’s in Curatorial Public and Visual Practice from Wits. Her research focuses on sustainable ecosystems in the creative sector.

Since 2014, Shaw has been the Executive Director of the KwaZulu-Natal Society of Arts, a non-profit visual arts organisation.
