AVA in Conversation
“It’s important historically to be able to circulate yourself within a long lineage, what we could loosely call a kind of South African cultural production, that I'm connected to something quite longer and that this thing, maybe this thing has a future you know?
Theres no relevance outside of being rooted in community…
…I think the material sustenance of the institution is only as important as the social and ethical relationship that it maintains with the community that it’s rooted in, and for AVA to have lived for that long is also a testament of having rooted itself in a community. I think that the future then of that institution is also the future of that community.”
This project highlights the role our membership plays in sustaining our mission and expanding our community. It was created in partnership with Love Yourss, a local content advertising agency. We are incredibly grateful to them for their generous donation, time, and support in bringing it to life.
