AVA Membership
The Association for Visual Arts is the oldest non-profit gallery in Cape Town with the mission to advance and support contemporary art and artists. From the annual open call, we curate up to 28 exhibitions per year at our gallery space at 35 Church Street.
Our members support makes it all possible.
We invite you to become a member, get involved and connect with South Africa's contemporary art world.
What we offer:
General Membership
Our most popular membership at an accessible annual fee, directly fueling our mission while expanding our community. Stay in the loop with our monthly members newsletter and have a voice in the Association for just R150 a year.

Monthly newsletter
A right to vote at annual general meetings.
An opportunity to nominate board members.
Invitations to all private viewings, exhibition openings, and artist /curator walkabouts.
Opportunity to show work in AVA curated exhibitions.
5% discount on all artwork at the AVA gallery.
10% discount at The Deckle Edge and at The Italian Artshop.
A negotiated discount on venue rental for functions, events, and exhibitions.
Circle Membership
An opportunity for collectors and patrons to connect over the shared love of art and to support the work of the AVA in the face of absence of regular government funding. The Circle Membership is enabled by a donation of R25,000 per year.

Limited to just 50 members, to commemorate 50 years since the AVA Gallery moved into its premises on Church Street, Circle provides art collectors with an opportunity to connect over their shared love of art while participating in a handful of exclusive art events per year.
Circle membership fees go towards an endowment fund, launched in 2019, that will ensure the AVA’s ongoing sustainability in the rapidly growing and commercialising Cape Town visual arts ecosystem.
The cost of the Circle Membership is a donation of R25,000 per year.
