Thebe Phetogo (b. 1993, Serowe, Botswana) is a painter based in Gaborone, Botswana. His practice explores painting as a site of inquiry, engaging with historical and contemporary visual languages through the adoption of transmedia storytelling tools. A founding member of the TBP Artist Collective, Phetogo has exhibited internationally at institutions such as Zeitz MOCAA (Cape Town), Kunsthal KAdE (Amersfoort), MoCA CT (Connecticut), Qingdao Art Museum (China), and the Botswana National Gallery (Gaborone). His work has been featured and reviewed in The Washington Post and Art in America, and he has participated in residencies at the Arthouse Foundation (Lagos) and the Bag Factory (Johannesburg). CURRENTS marks Phetogo’s first solo curatorial project.
