Athene Azure Hage (b. 2002, South Africa) explores the intersection of memory, materiality, and the afterlife of objects. Working with wax-infused oil paintings and metal sculptures, she engages with themes of mourning, liminality, and the ways in which personal and familial histories persist beyond the physical. Her work unearths the quiet weight carried by objects, tracing how they hold echoes of those who have passed. Through layering, erasure, and transformation, she considers the fragile boundaries between presence and absence, permanence and decay.
