Hemali Khoosal is an artist from Johannesburg working across installation, printmaking, painting, and moving image. She is drawn to experimental, collaborative, and socially engaged ways of working. Her practice explores themes of belonging and migration, rooted in a desire to connect people to one another’s worlds through storytelling. She is also interested in gesture and language, motion and fluidity, everyday beauty, perceptions of time, and inherited or informal forms of knowledge such as oral histories and personal digital archives.

Hemali holds an MA in Filmmaking (Cinematography) from Goldsmiths, University of London, and a BA in Fine Art from the Wits School of Art, where she also completed an exchange in Scenography at HEAR, Strasbourg.
